Invite people individually in the DMs
I found that in the very, very beginning, the most powerful strategy was inviting people individually in the DMs.
Yes, that does not scale, but that's okay. This is just the beginning and we're just trying to get people in.
Do the regular marketing things (put it in your email list, tell, tell people about it, post on your Instagram, add it to your welcome sequence) but the most powerful thing in the very beginning is going to be going through your contacts and actually DMing people individually to invite them.
And these aren't like mega cold DMs. Don't be gross and send gross cold DMs. These are people you're already in contact with, people that you follow or who follow you.
- Go through the Stories circles at the top of your feed to see who you could message
- Who are you interested in getting to know better?
- Who's a potential referral partner or networking partner?
- Who's responded to my Stories recently?
- Who's commented on my FB posts?
The fact that you're sending a personal invite to someone feels much more impactful on the receiving end, and they're much more likely to respond in the way that you want them to.
This whole thing is about building individual relationships. So this strategy of growth at the very beginning is reflective of that and is gonna set that tone.
“So I’m trying something new and hosting coworking on Thursday and I’m super excited about it! And you’re one of the first people that popped into my head who I’d love to invite! Is this something you think you’d be interested in?”
If it’s not your first one anymore, you could say something like:
“Hey! So I’ve recently started hosting free coworking sessions, and if you’re interested, I’d love to invite you to join us!”
