Key Decisions

Why do you want to host coworking?

Now you know the like basic tech pieces. But before we start planning out frequency and all of that, there are a few key decision pieces that you need to make before getting started hosting, or even outlining its structure.

Why do you want to host coworking?

This will inform the rest of your decisions.

For me, this was not a strategic decision — it was strictly personal and I eventually made strategic decisions within it.

But I can tell you now as someone who did it, it's good to make these decisions ahead of time.

So are there personal reasons that you want to do this?
Are there strategic reasons?

Think about how it will fit within your business or content ecosystem.

So, if you're not familiar with my content marketing ecosystem framework, there is three main roles that you need to have a content platform to fill each role.

One is visibility, one is relationships, and one is leadership content.

The relationship piece is what we're talking about today.

Coworking at the time was my primary piece of relationship content. For most people this would be your email newsletter. And today for me, email newsletter is my primary relationship content. But at the time that I was hosting coworking, it was a much higher focus for me and extremely effective, because the whole point of the relationship part of your content marketing ecosystem is to be an exclusive form of content where you're having conversations with people.

And in the early stages of your business, especially when your audience is small, sending out email newsletters can feel like you're blasting content into a void. Because if you only have 200 people on your email list, you're just not gonna get very many replies just naturally, because some people are lurkers and they're just as engaged, but they're not responding.

And that's fine. But if you're like me and it fuels you to get those replies, then that can be less motivating.

So, if it's a content ecosystem decision for you, this is a great way to do that where you can have the conversations and actually be back and forth with people without blasting content into a void.

So spend some time thinking about that.
